The UB Computer-Based Testing Center offers the students of the University at Buffalo (and the general public) more flexibility and accessibility to graduate admissions testing. The lab is in operation year round and is open six days a week. You may schedule appointments: Monday - Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Saturday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Examinations are held twice daily, Tuesday - Saturday beginning at 8:00 am and at 12:00 pm and are approximately 4 hours in length. The following provides you information on making appointments, costs and times of exams, directions to our facility, and phone numbers you can call for further assistance.

To make an appointment you can call our lab directly at (716) 645-2232 x 115 between the hours 9:00 am - 4:00 pm M-F and 9:00 am -3:00 pm on Saturday. If you wish to make an appointment over the phone, please have a credit card ready. We accept American Express, Visa Card, or Master Card and Discover Card. If you wish to pay by check or money order (sorry, we do not accept cash), you must pay in person at our center in 259 Capen Hall, Career Services.
If you are coming East from the Syracuse, Rochester, Batavia area; From the thruway, route 90W, take exit 50 onto the 290W. Look for exit 990 North, otherwise known as the State University/Lockport exit. Get off on the 990 North exit. You will then be on route 990 North. Take the first exit, State University. Go to the first light, turn left onto Rensch Road. Take it to Hadley Road and turn left. Take that to White Road where you will turn right. Your first right is called Governor's lot. You will see a sign directly ahead of you saying "visitors parking". There is a fee after 7:00am, and parking is free on Saturday. If you park on the left side you will see Capen Hall directly to your left. From there enter through the ground floor doors, go to the second floor, past the financial aid/student records office, right to 259 Capen Hall, Career Services.
Driving Instructions from Buffalo State College on Elmwood Ave (near Albright-Knox Art Gallery/traveling North on Elmwood away from downtown Buffalo). Continue north on Elmwood. Proceed approx. 5 miles to 290 East. From there exit onto route 990 North, otherwise known as the State University/Lockport exit. Once you have taken the 990 North exit, you will then be on the actual 990 North. Take the first exit, State University. Go to the first light, turn left onto Rensch Road. If you need special accommodations when you take your exam, please call the Educational Testing Service, Special Accommodations number: 1-800-967-1139. This office will assist you with your needs and schedule you for the exam as well.
GRE: The GRE exam is offered daily Tuesday through Saturday (excluding holidays). The exam runs 4 hours and costs $140. The candidate must call to cancel or reschedule no later than 10 full business days before the appointment (not including the day of the test appointment). If a candidate gives less than 10 days notice and does not test, he/she will forfeit the entire testing fee. There will be a $50.00 re-schedule fee. Partial refunds of $70.00 will be issued with proper notice. On the day of the exam, you will need to bring two forms of identification that have a picture and at least one must have a picture and a signature (e.g. a driver's license or
a passport). Your college ID and a driver's license will suffice. If you do not have the appropriate identification,
you will NOT be allowed to test and you will forfeit your testing fee.

GMAT: The GMAT Exam is no longer offered at The University at Buffalo as of 1/1/06. The GMAT Exam will be offered at selective Pearson Vue Centers. The closest location to UB is the Pearson Professional Center in Amherst (716) 565-9379. For more information visit: www.mba.com or www.gmat.org
ibtTOEFL: The ibtTOEFL exam is offered on select dates and time. The exam runs 4 hours and costs $150. In order to register for an ibtTOEFL exam, the candidate must do so online at www.toefl.org and pay with a credit card. Cancellations or reschedules are also done on the ibtTOEFL website. Also, ID requirements have changed for this exam. The testing candidate can have EITHER a VALID passport from their home country or VALID Driver's license from USA only. If signature on passport is not in English, the testing candidate MUST provide another form of ID with an English signature, i.e.; driver's license, National ID card, or Military ID card. If you do not have the appropriate identification, you will NOT be allowed to test and you will forfeit your testing fee.

CLEP: CLEP exams are scheduled by individual appointment only. In order to register, the testing candidate may come in person to the testing office, or call the testing office at (716)645-2232 x115. A non-refundable fee of $25 is needed to reserve a CLEP appointment time. If the appointment is cancelled, the $25 fee cannot be returned. The candidate must call 3 business days in advance in order to re-schedule or cancel. There will be a $5 re-schedule fee. The test fee is $65 and can be paid on the test date. ** Note: As of July 1, 2008, the CLEP test fee will increase to $70. In addition, a $25 non-refundable registration fee will be required to reserve an appointment time. This fee can be paid by credit/debit card via phone or check/money order in person only. Appointments will no longer be made unless the $25 registration fee has been received at the time of scheduling your reservation. The remaining $70 test fee is to be paid the day of the scheduled exam.
MAT (Miller Analogies Test): MAT exams are scheduled by individual appointment only. In order to register, the testing candidate may come in person to the testing office, or call the testing office at (716)645-2232 x115. A non-refundable test fee of $90 is needed to reserve a Miller Analogies Test appointment time. If the appointment is cancelled, the $90 fee cannot be returned. The candidate must call 3 business days in advance in order to re-schedule or cancel. There will be a $5 re-schedule fee. In addition to computer based exams, The Career Services Office also administers Paper based Exams such as the MCAT, PCAT, LSAT, and GRE Subject Tests. Paper Based Exams are offered at different times and dates based on information given inside your specific paper based test bulletin/information booklet or corresponding website. With the exception of the MAT, you MUST register through that bulletin or website and confirmation information will be mailed to you. For the MAT, one can simply call us directly at 645-2232 x115.
